Ethical Dilemmas in Software Development

Updated: Nov 11, 2021

The Graduate Program of Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) is inviting volunteers to participate in a research project entitled: Ethical Dilemmas in Software Development.

The objective of this research is to evaluate the influence of ethical guidelines in moral dilemmas that may occur in the professional life of software developers (e.g., professionals and students of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering).

By participating in the study, you will answer a short questionnaire containing 11 moral dilemmas. The questionnaire invites you to reflect on dilemmas involving ethical choices of practitioners in your field, something that will take about 10-15 minutes to complete, all done online via Google Forms.

What we seek to add to the literature in this study is to answer the following question: What is the normative influence of ethical guidelines in the area of software development?

The survey (form) can be accessed from this link (At the moment, the research is only in Portuguese-BR).
